PlaceMy Cloud is the productised continuation of an MSc dissertation prototype. The pipeline below has been validated against real cloud environments.
Multi-cloud discovery
Connect AWS, Azure, and GCP with read-only credentials. PlaceMy lists every VM in every region you have access to and pulls 14 days of CPU, memory, and network metrics from CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Cloud Monitoring.
Workload profiling
Each workload gets a profile: utilisation distribution (P50/P95/P99), burstiness, criticality, environment, latency-sensitivity, and data-residency. Profiles are how we judge fitness, not just averages.
Candidate selection
We compare every workload against the live pricing catalogue across all three clouds. Candidates are filtered by region constraints, OS family, vCPU/memory headroom, and provider preferences.
Decision packs
For each workload, you can export a decision pack — a single document covering current state, top alternatives, monthly/annual savings, resource trade-offs, and provider-change implications. Hand it to a reviewer, archive it for audit.
Multi-tenant by design
Every organisation is isolated at the database level. Credentials are encrypted with a per-tenant key derived via HKDF. Audit logs capture every credential read and pipeline run.
